Min Kyung Kim explores social phenomena and power structures that shape behavior and perception. She focuses on socio-cultural constructs such as norms, rules, conventions, gender and class across cultural contexts and critically examines the interplay of social myths, prejudice, and discrimination within and outside the art world. Her practice crosses artistic and educational activities, including exhibitions, research and curatorial projects and workshops. Through ‘experimental interventions’ involving the deconstruction and reconstruction of video, installation, performance, and photography, she makes these constructs tangible and questionable. At the center of her practice is the questioning of “being human in a system” in a multifaceted way.

She studied printmaking at Hongik University in Seoul (BA 2006), fine art at the Kunstakademie Münster with Prof. Aernout Mik (Diploma 2016 / Meisterschülerin 2017) and art in context at the University of the Arts Berlin (MA 2024). She is co-founder of the art collectives Co-Re - contextual research (2020-2022) and UmmU (2022) and a member of the collective Liebl (since 2022) and the experimental grru collective (since 2024). Since 2020, she has also been active in the field of cultural education, participating in art education projects and running media literacy courses and art workshops for School-age students, such as 'Media against prejudice' in Charlottenburg, Berlin.
